Detailed breakdown
Mobility and autonomy
A2 is significantly faster (5.5 m/s vs 1.0 m/s on ANYmal), lighter and carries more. That means: in the same time A2 covers more route and carries more sensors. ANYmal is optimised for slow, careful walks of stationary installations with a focus on positioning accuracy.
Industrial scenarios and Ex zones
ANYmal X is the only commercially available quadruped with factory ATEX certification for Zone 2. This is critical for certain oil & gas facilities and chemical operations with direct Ex zones. In those scenarios A2 works from the safe-zone boundary or with a custom Ex pack. For most industrial sites in Kazakhstan (refineries, metals, energy, warehouses), Ex execution is not required.
Delivery, service, ecosystem
Unitree is shipped via Alashed (Unitree.kz) with local service in Almaty, spare parts and training. Anybotics ships through European distributors with service from Switzerland — long timelines and logistics for Kazakhstan. This affects uptime: with a failure, A2 is replaced in days; ANYmal — in weeks.
SDK and integration
Both robots support ROS2. The Unitree SDK is more actively developed by the community; many open-source solutions and examples are available. Anybotics has a more closed ecosystem with focus on enterprise clients. For pilot projects and fast development, A2 is preferable.
When to pick which
ANYmal X — if you have an Ex Zone 2 and budget for a premium platform with Swiss support. For everything else — A2 from Unitree. FAQ
Is A2 suitable for oil & gas sites in Atyrau?
Yes — for most zones at refineries, oil depots and gas networks A2 operates normally. For Zone 0/1 Ex areas, remote inspection from the boundary applies. This is standard practice for most robotic platforms in oil & gas.
Is ANYmal delivered to Kazakhstan?
No direct delivery to KZ; the platform is available through European distributors with service from Switzerland. Delivery and service lead times are significantly longer than Unitree via a local partner.
Price difference?
Specific numbers vary by configuration. Anybotics ANYmal as a Swiss premium product sits in a significantly higher price bracket than Unitree A2. An Alashed engineer prepares the exact figure for your task.
What about operator training?
Unitree provides training as part of the delivery; a local program in Almaty. Anybotics requires either a European engineer visit or remote training in English. For a team without English, A2 is simpler to onboard.
